"SAVE HER"working title

STORY DOWNLOAD SCRIPT

The story is about a girl trapped in her nightmare who's saved by her lover who emerges from his dream to rescue her. This concept has been done before but I'm hoping our approach, storytelling method and style sets it apart from what has been done in the past.

The story starts of with a pulsating forest, dark and foggy. We hear a throbbing heartbeat and deep breaths. With each breath the forest pulsates more and more and with each pulse we're drawn deeper and deeper into the forest (EX. A) Pulse, Pulse, Pluse, until we reach... a girl. The girl looks lost as if she's just been thrown into the woods and has no idea about her surroundings and why she is there, there is a bewildered look on her face. She wears a black dress and black makeup under her eyes (Think Tim Burton). The atmosphere is surrounded by haunting sounds (memories, screeches, people whispering, cold winds) and these weird masked creatures who we get short glimpses of (EX. B). Flashes of terror suddenly fill her close surrounding her. SNAP! She starts running to get away from this terror (EX. C), then the camera does a very long and very quick pull out.. SWOOOSH! Suddenly we see the same girl in her bed breathing heavly, revealing to the audience that what we just saw was mearly her nightmare. Silence.... as we see the girl panting in her bed.

From the shot of the girl breathing heavy in her bed the camera pans slightly to the right to reveal her lover next to her sound asleep and smiling. The camera does a quick and very fast pull in to the boy's mind... SWOOOSH! Suddenly we are in another forest, but this one is much brighter, sunnier, and peacful. The boy seems very happy to be here and his environment is filled with pleasent sounds and flashes of childhood memories (kids playing on swing, lovely music, etc). After we familiarize ourselves with the boy and his environment the boy looks across the river to see his gf. The other side is a complete contrast of his world and he sees that his gf is in danger. He yells out to her but no sound comes out. The camera cuts to the girls side and from the audience perspective we see that the girl cannot see the boy. He yells and yells and tries to cross the river to save her but is stopped by a glass wall between the forest and the river. He bangs and screams, he can't take the fact that the love of his life is only a few yards away and he can't do anything about it. He continues to bang on the glass wall until he stops, take a few steps back and breaks though the barrier. CRASH!! he smashes through the glass and lands in an abyss of water (EX. D). SPLASH!! Suddenly the boy is underwater and once he brings his head up for air he finds himself in a completely different world apart from the forest. (I want each forest to symbolize both characters dreamworlds and the river to signify the empty space outside of dreams, almost like Purgatory. Perhaps we could film this in an empty olympic sized swimming pool or the middle of lake michigian, not sure).

The boy is lost in this sea of water, you can tell by the sad helpless look on his face that all hope of being a hero is completely gone. Meanwhile we cut to the girl who is still being terrorized by these masked creatures. Cut back to the boy who is stranded in this sea of water. He keeps swimming until suddenly he lands in another dream (not sure what yet) in this world he arrives completely wet from the sea, perhaps in someone's living room while a couple is having dinner? So the boy is confused now, until he looks at the TV in the other room. It's his LOVER! As if what's going on in her dream is suddenly projected onto this TV. He grabs a bat and smashes the TV in. BOOOM! Now he's in her world and he can see her running in the distance. He runs after her! Faster faster faster! As he runs, he keeps getting projected into different worlds (City, dessert, Rural, then back to forest) as if something is trying to stop him, but her keeps running and breaking through worlds (EX. E). He yells out the girls name but only static noises come out (as if listening to a radio with shitty reception).

This is now a chase as he tries his best to catch up with the girl running from the spirits who're chasing her. Closer... closer... closer. He catches up and grabs the girl! BOOM! She wakes up.... confused and unharmed, he saved her! All is calm. She looks at her bf who's still asleep and realizes that this was all a dream. She gets up to go to the bathroom and gets a drink of water. As she gets up her bf makes a weird noise but she thinks nothing of it and walks out of the bedroom. The camera cuts back to dreamland to reveal to the audience that the boy is now in another world, trapped by the masked creatures. He's in a black empty room surrounded by all these masked people looking at him (EX. F). He's tied to a chair and gagged. One of the creatures emerges from the crowd and steps in front of him. He cries out for help but there is no one to hear him. The creature pulls out a sharp knife! He screams under his gag. Cut back to the real world, the girl is back in bed drinking her water on the side of the bed and we can see from the boys heavy breathing that he is in a state of destraught. Cut to dream. The creature draws the knife close and closer to the boys neck. Cut back to real world. The girl washes up her hands. Cut back to dream. The creature starring at the boy with his evil eyes under the mask, knife coming close and closer. The creature draws the knife up in the air! Cut to real world. The girl stares at her bf in a curious man. Cut to dream. The knife still in the air and the boy screams. !!! The knive comes down! BOOOM!! Cut to black..... silence.. silence... then we hear... "Wake up" "wake up" . The girl has succesfully woken the boy before the knife could hit them. They are both saved and they give each other a huge hug.
